Went to court yesterday and it's now official - for the first time in just under 30 years I am once again Melanie Rose Larson (oops, I typed Matlock). Court was very short, I was 4th in line of folks seeking a name change. The nice thing was that my co-worker, Joyce, was standing outside the courtroom when I arrived to offer her support. She also left a bottle of wine (St. Chapelle Special Harvest) with a card on my desk at work. What a good friend! I got a new Drivers License today in my new name and will need to get a new social security card and change anything else that comes along. Now the hard part is just remembering that I changed it.
I started a new part time job today organizing a home business - cleaned up some files and installed QuickBooks - next week I'll get the bookkeeping system set up and work out procedures to get all the information put into it. Jeannie Manning is the woman's name I'm working for - she's a friend of Pat from the shelter. Jeannie has another friend who needs some data entry help, and he has a couple friends who also need help with their businesses - wish I had more time (and energy), but I'll see what I can do.
I designed ID badges for the shelter the other day and made up a prototype to take to a staff meeting - It had my name and Marilyn Monroe's picture - got a big laugh.
Tomorrow is clean house day, plant bulbs day, do laundry day - and most likely take a nap day.
Did I tell 'you kids' that I'm still glowing after spending those fun days with you. Looking forward to Christmas!!!
Sincerely,
Melanie Larson
